Scents for a Better Mood

Scents for a Better Mood

Fragrances have a significant impact on our lives — the nose can distinguish thousands of scents, and certain aromas genuinely improve mood. The sense of smell continuously evaluates our surroundings, and that in turn affects our disposition and general wellbeing. Which aromas will get you going, and which will calm you down?

Rose

Flowers are widely considered "mood boosters" — their form, colour and fragrance provide comfort. Rose has been present in aromatherapy for centuries, and modern research confirms its effects: its scent can instantly evoke joyful associations.

Lavender

Olfactory number one. It has been proven to improve mood, ease anxiety and even relieve pain. Research from the University of Miami School of Medicine found that the scent of lavender promotes relaxation and speeds up mental arithmetic.

Lemon and liquorice

The clean, bright scent of lemon lifts the spirits and reduces anxiety — it is associated with cleanliness and a pleasant disposition. The aroma of liquorice, meanwhile, not only improves mood but also adds physical energy.
